San Diego Sky Tours Biplane Aerobatic Flight

I’ve always wanted to ride in a biplane. I think the first model plane I built was a WWI British fighter.

On my commute home each day I see lots of military and civilian aircraft over the highway I drive home, some of which are biplanes. I decided to look up how to ride in one and lo and behold: San Diego Sky Tours.

My pilot was Vinnie, a former military B1 pilot. Extraordinarily knowledgeable and nice guy. When going over the flight, he got my comfort level (I was wrong lol) and was plenty willing to adjust as needed on the fly.

The flight was a blast, unfortunately for me a kinda perfect storm of things going on in my head/body caused motion sickness relatively early (three total flips, 4Gs of force) into the actual aerobatics BUT oh well. WORTH IT. The flight was great, we saw a large group of dolphins hunting, and staring at the ocean on the other side of a barrel roll is something I’ll never forget.

I’ll probably do it again in a year or two and hope for a stronger tummy but I’m glad I went yesterday.
