Timbophilosophy
Over the last few months I have tried to stop killing time at work via online scrolling and instead have been reading a bit in between tasks. Most of my reading at the beginning was classic science fiction. The thing about classic scifi, they get heavily philosophical. Most stories have a moral. I started looking up individual authors and where ideas came from, which led me to begin adding philosophy into my reading.
I have always considered myself a Humanist. The recent philosophy reading I’ve done has been focused on Absurdism and Stoicism. I decided to try to train my brain a bit more by coming up with my defined ideals.
Here are the ten principles on my philosophy. Each one will get it’s own post, connecting it between the three aforementioned studies and science fiction.
Accept the absurd then defy it.
Rule the mind, dismiss the rest.
Humans first: focus on the immediate, ignore the aggregate.
Suffer productively.
Live with Radical Autonomy & Acceptance.
Remember, you will die.
Demand reason over superstition.
Cultivate internal freedom.
Create your own joy.
Focus on the action, detach from the outcome.
